There are many major differences in the film The Great Gatsby compared to the original book. Most of the time the movie isn’t as detailed as the book because it is usually only around two hours. The book can be anywhere from two-hundred to over a thousand pages. Many people tend to enjoy the book over the movie because of this, although there may be a lot of differences there are also tons of similarities between the two. Before the film came out people were afraid that the film wouldn’t have been faithful to F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author of The Great Gatsby.
The plot of the book was overall pretty similar to the film, they used a lot of the same dialogue from the book as well. In the film Gatsby is portrayed as someone who is very obnoxious and loud, while in the book he seems more quiet and to himself. It seemed as if in the novel he wasn’t as big a character as he is in the film. He is a main character in both the book and the movie but it just felt as if he played a much bigger role in the movie. His Mansion in the film doesn’t seen as lavish as it does in the book. Of course it is still huge, but not as we might have expected after reading the book.
