The first factor that contributes for smoking habits were peers influence and peers pressure. According to Dr.Susan Jewell in a live strong website on 14 August 2017, peer pressure is an important factor for many people who start smoking. This is because of the important factor that determines peer pressure and the consequences of these pressures are economic status, level of education and family history. A study was made in 1993 by Cornelia Pechmann, published in the Marketing Science Institute, concluded that previous beliefs refer to the images and ideas about smoking those children develop before any formal anti-smoking education. These beliefs subconsciously are held and are resistant to education.

The closest partner affects this smoking issue. If a student wants to enter a group of students who smoke, then the student should smoke like his other friends in the group. Sufian study (2004) also notes that peer pressure can encourage students to smoke. Some teenagers who dare to smoke will be included in peer groups; otherwise they will be disgusted by peers. Mohamad (1987) supports the findings and states that the strong pressure to follow and imitate will be faced by adolescents but in this case is the impersonation of several things. The findings are also consistent with Zulkarnain’s (2002) statement that says that facts or realities affect human feelings.
