Year by year it’s been the same old story in the cellphone industry, new phones are getting released together with their new appearance, more innovative features and reasonably to unreasonably prices as well. In the case of Apple Inc., one of the world’s tech giants and leading smartphone manufacturer, nothing has changed as they recently launched their three-smartphone flagships, the IPhones: XR, XS and XS Max.
Starting with Specs
Starting with one of the most asked information about a new phone, Specifications.
The iPhone XS, the smallest among the three in terms of size, is a water-resistant smartphone which can last for up to 7 feet in water for 30 minutes. It also comes with a 5.8-inch OLED screen — same dimensions as the iPhone X. This version of iPhone offers Apple’s new processor, the A12 bionic chipset, which ensures its fast performance, good for games and an improved display for it possess a beautiful Super Retina display. This new phone also offer 30 extra minutes of battery life and a variety storage space up to a whopping 512 GB of storage.
The XS also features an improved dual-camera system, with true-tone flash and new sensors with “bigger, deeper pixels” for better Portrait mode photos. Apple also advertises a 2x optical zoom and up to 10x digital zoom. These phones sure are good for capturing real-time photos at a high quality, greater detail and with more vibrant color.
iPhone XS Max
On the other hand, Apple is also rolling out its largest handset up to date in terms of size: the iPhone XS Max with a 6.5-inch Super Retina OLED screen. It runs on the biggest battery Apple has ever put in a phone and will last an hour and a half longer than previous handsets.
Both phones will offer dual SIM capability that allows users to have two phone numbers on the same phone. Although it has been used in the industry for many years, this feature may be relatively new for iPhones.
Long story short, these 2 handsets are just the same phones with the exact specifications. It’s just that the XS Max is just being bigger in terms of screen and battery size.
A third new model and probably the most affordable among the three, the iPhone XR, also joins the scene as it comes in colorful aluminum finishes and features a 6.1-inch screen, which is somehow bigger than the XS. Unlike the first 2, it only features a downgraded edge-to-edge LCD display or also dubbed as the Liquid Retina display. In terms of camera, it also has a 12 megapixel camera but only has a maximum digital zoom of 5x. Similar to the X and XS, it runs on faster processors and offers enhanced camera settings. The XR’s battery life is also good with it claiming to last an hour and a half longer than the battery of the iPhone 8 Plus. This handset also doesn’t have the 512 GB variety but still has the standard 64GB and 256 GB varieties. But basically other than that, it also gives the same function as the two.
Prepare your Wallet
As Spiderman said, “With great power comes great responsibility”. Well in phones, specifically iPhones, expect somehow a similar quote to that especially if it’s about prices. “With Great iPhones comes unreasonably high prices”.
The iPhone XR will start at a price of $749(about Php 41,000) while the iPhone XS is priced at $999 (about Php 55,000) and iPhone XS Max, starts at $1,099 (about Php 60,000). But still, might as well consider other fees such as taxes and shipping fees so it may somehow be more expensive than the prices indicated. So if buying such phones would be a priority, preparing your wallet should be done starting now.
