A boy went to the outskirts of his town

A boy went to the outskirts of his town, where the Once-ler lived. The boy’s curiosity made
him wonder how his town used to be before all of the pollution, thus he paid the Once-ler a
Long ago, the Once-ler arrived at the place that was rich with Truffula trees. There were
green grass all around, clean air and abundant animals, like the Bar-ba-loots and Hummingfish,
roaming freely among the Truffula trees.
These Truffula trees were the ideal raw material. The Once-ler used the Truffs and knitted
Thneeds, a versatile invention of his own. It could be described by him as something ”which
everyone needs”. After chopping down the first tree, the Lorax appeared the one that
speaks for the trees.
Greed took over the Once-ler and he continued chopping down the Truffula trees to expand
his business needs. First he chopped down so many trees that the Bar-ba-loots did not have
enough food anymore and the Lorax had to send them away in search of other food.
Secondly, as the business expanded for the Once-ler, his factory polluted the air so much
that the Swomee Swans had developed sore throats. This left them unable to sing. The
Lorax had to send them away as well. The Lorax would plead with the Once-ler but greed
still blinded the Once-ler.
Lastly, the Once-ler’s factory polluted the river and ponds where the Humming-fish lived.
They could not hum anymore and the Lorax had to send them away.
The Lorax pleaded with the Once-ler, but as soon as the last Truffula Tree was chop down,
there was no hope of helping. The Lorax then lifted himself away and left a mark on a heap
of rocks saying “Unless”. Which mean unless somebody cared or cares, there will not be
hope for saving the environment.
Once the last tree was chopped down, not only did the Once-ler’s business come to a stop,
but also the environment was destroyed beyond what looked like the point of no return.
At the end of his story, the Once-ler gave the boy the very last Truffula Tree seed and said
that maybe if the Truffula Trees will grow as what they once grew, perhaps the Lorax and his
animals will return and things will be back to what used to be.
