Executive summary
Pakistan Ordnance Factories is the largest defence industrial complex under the Ministry of Defence
Production, producing conventional arms & ammo to international standards. WIL sale these products.
POF Board headquarter is at Wah Cantt. Presently POF comprises of 14 ordnance factories and three
commercial subsidiaries. Pakistan Ordnance Factories also specialize in the manufacture of commerical
explosive, hunting ammunition and posses extensive facilities for the manufacture of brass, copper and
aluminum ingots, extrusions and sections for non-military applications. A garments factory, which has the
state of the art cloth cutting facilities and most modern stiching units, manufactures military uniforms and
can also cater for the needs of the civil sector.
Mission of Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) is:-
To meet the requirements of arms and ammo of defence forces during peace and war time.
To utilize surplus capacity for commercial and export purposes.
To manage and administer factory affairs and run them on sound commercial lines.

Background of Organization
Introduction:
Wah Industries Limited was established in November 7, 1958 as a commercial enterprise of Pakistan
Ordnance Factories and was incorporated as a Public Limited Company under the of POF, to utilize
maximum spare production capacity of POFs men, machinery, materials and to dispose off the waste,
scrap & unserviceable store of POF .WIL is the subsidiary of Pakistan ordnance factories .POF. Primary
objective of producing arms and ammunition for the armed forces of Pakistan. Responsibility has given to

WIL registered office is suited at Jinnah Avenue (The Mall), Wah Cantt, Tehsil Taxila, Distt: Rawalpindi
(Pakistan province Punjab).WIL registration office Islamabad SECP (securities and Exchange
Commission) WIL is engaged in the production of 12-Bore Shaheen Cartridges (manufactured in WIL
Shot Gun Ammunition Factory) and marketing of a wide variety of engineering products and chemicals
according to the international standards and quality at competitive rates.
WIL are also the sole agent for selling Civil Products and are manufacturing/supplying the wide variety
of products/services according to the buyer’s requirement.

Company History:
Wah industries limited (WIL) is a public limited company ,which is established and incorporated in
November 7,1958 as a commercial enterprise of Pakistan ordnance Factories and was incorporated in the
Memorandum and Articles of Association . Originally framed under the provisions of Companies Act
1913 and updated in accordance with the provisions of Companies Ordinance 1984, Its registered office
is suited at Jinnah Avenue (The Mall), Wah Cantt, Tehsil Taxila, Distt: Rawalpindi (Pakistan).
Capital: Share capital of the company is Rs 1700,000,000(Rs one billion seven hundered million)
divided into 17,000,000 (seventeen million) ordinary shares of Rs 100/-

The main mission/rules/objectives of the Company are:
Mission:
? To utilize spare capacity of POFs by marketing its qualitative civil production items.
? Disposal of: Obsolete/Surplus plants, Machinery ; stores. Ferrous and non-Ferrous scrap.

Objective:
? Maximum utilization of the spare capacity of POF’s men machinery and materials with a view to
keeping production techniques alive , retaining , trained man power for stepped up defence
production in time of emergency and contribution as much as possible towards overhead
expenditures of the POFs.
? Disposal of absolute/surplus stores and scraps generates as bi-products in the POFs or received
from other formations
? To led strength to the National economy of the country through commercial operation.
? Other objective are as set out in the Memorandum and articles of association of the company.

Bye-Law:
The Bye-Laws of the Company have been framed and incorporated in the Articles of Association
originally framed under the provisions of Companies Act 1913 and updated in accordance with the
provisions of Companies Ordinance 1984.The WIL is register in SECP.

? In 2001, M/s Almishal, Saudi Arabia purchased 21% shares of the company from SAAB (Bofors).

WAH BRASS MILLS (PVT) LIMITED
? The company was established by WIL in 2012 to enhance the production of brass products to meet the
requirement of the market.
? Existing A-40 Brass Mills of POF has been transferred to Wah Brass Mills (Pvt) Ltd through WIL to
improve the quality of ammunition of POF and to refurbish / up-grade and modernize it. Additional
machinery has also been procured and is being installed.

HI-TECH PLASTICS (PVT) LIMITED
? Hi-Tech Plastics (Pvt) Limited was established in 1984 as joint venture between WIL & Alam Chemical
Industries Ltd (ACI) with shares equity ration 49 : 51% respectively for the manufacturing of high quality
plastic products of diversified nature on commercial lines required by POF, WIL & civil market. Assets
of ex-Congothene Chemicals Industries Limited were transferred to the company

ATTOCK CHEMICALS (PVT) LIMITED
? Attock Chemicals was established in June 1976 as a joint venture between Pakistan Oilfield Limited
(POL) and WIL for setting-up of a Sulphuric Acid Plant having equity ratio of 60 : 40 respectively.

SANJWAL SOLAR POWER (PVT) LTD
? The company was established in 2011 as wholly owned subsidiary of WIL for installation of 5MW Solar
Power Plant at POF Sanjwal on IPP mode.
? Letter of Support has been issued to SSPL by the AEDB on 26-11-14.
? Energy Purchase Agreement (EPA) and Implement Agreement (IA) are being finalized by AEDB.

NOBEL ENERGY LIMITED
? The company has been established in 2014 by Wah Nobel (Pvt) Ltd. Now WIL & WNL have signed a JV
agreement on 01-03-2015 with 50 : 50 equity ratio for installation of 1 MW Thin Film Solar Power
Project.

WAH CLOTHING (PVT) LIMITED
To commercialize the present POF Clothing Fy in befitting manner, Wah Clothing (Pvt) Ltd was set-up in
2015 which is wholly owned subsidiary of WIL.

Shotgun Ammunition Factory was establish in 1980 with the production capacity of 20 million Cartridges

What is recruitment?

recruitment. recruiting process of WIL is usually done by RNT (recruitment and training).WIL is well
known organization engaged in serving the nation in a better way. For this purpose a well trained
professional and diversified HR is required for better performance on the basis of job analysis,
recruitment for different posts is carried out to flll the vacant posts.
Recruitment /Selection:

ACRs (Annual Confidential Reports) performance reports, recommendation seniority and so on.

Training and development is necessary to equip the employee the new technologies. It’s also helpful for
career growth and development employees learn and develop new skills, or area of development in
techniques and latest information so that after the necessary training on specific fields and better and
accurate function and operation may be execute in the organization. WIL conduct seminar under CMC
(Career Management Cell) through which employees learn about their jobs and give a fruitful service to
the nation .RNT (recruitment and training) also perform a same job CMC to recruit and trained the
employee of WIL. If WIL purchase new machine from foreign agency than also give training about the
machine working to their employees.
Medical:
WIL provide the medical facilities to their employees WIL have their own dispensary somehow refer to
the POF hospital .
Transport:
Convince allowance given to their employees .This allowances given to their employees according to
their scale. e.g BS-16 get 5000 and below this get 2400. (lump-sum) some employee availed the
transport than the convince allowance are not given to employee .Transport provided by the WIL for the
movement order .WIL provide a money for repair of vehicle .First write the approval letter with subject
e.g Advance for repair of vehicles, Replacement of tyres for company , Movement order.
Transfer:
Posting order given to the employee or employee may write a application for transfer normally after three
year job rotation required.
Accommodation/Hiring:
Employers usually provide several facilities to their employees one of which is accommodation for the
residence of the employee

WIL employee write a letter with subject requisition of house employee can apply for the house
after 6 year service.

Accommodation letter write to the MD-WIL for the approval of the house .after the approval

Certificate is prove of the house that the is same and according to the maps that he provide to the

year and min 1 year its depend on employee.

Vacant letter with subject notice –vacation of house written by the owner of the house in this
letter he write the house is vacant for WIL employee .WIL employee hire this vacant house.

WIL handle the accommodation and hiring matter of Short Gun Ammunition Factory (SGAFY) .
Bonuses:
SECP (Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan ) meeting held every year WIL submitted their
profit and loss report than they give the bonus according to their report. POF chairman also give min 2 to
6 bonuses to the WIL employees according to the performance.

Leave Rules for WIL employees:
The rules may be called the Revised leave rules 1980
? Leave on full pay:
The maximum period of leave on full pay that may be granted at one time shall be as fellows:-
a) Without medical certificate 120 days
b) With medical certificate 180 days
c) On medical certificate from leave account in entire service 365 days
? Leave on half pay:
Leave on full pay may at the option of the employee be converted into leave on half pay the debit
to the leave account will be at the rate of one day full day’s leave on full pay
? Study leave :
Employee can availed this leave after completing their five year service leave may be one year
are may be more than that benefits are provided to the employee according to the rules.
Retirement
? Leave preparatory to Retirement LPR :
Ordinarily Leave preparatory to Retirement shall not be refused. all orders refusing Leave
preparatory to Retirement to a civil servant and recalling civil servant from Leave preparatory to
Retirement shall be passed only by the authorities specified and employees must write application
before 15 month left to their services.

? Leave Encashment:
Granted lump-sum pay at the time of retirement for the purpose of lump-sum payment in lieu of
such leave only the senior post allowance will be included in leave.
Pension:
Pension facility is not provided to the employee. Only old age allowance are given.
